Katie Silcocks
Katie Silcocks is a licensed Acupuncturist, and Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM). Katie graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in 2022 with a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAcOM) and a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) following the 4 year Doctoral program.
As a native Oregonian, born and raised in Bend, Katie grew up with a deep passion for the outdoors. She enjoyed getting to know the land on horseback, and camping at Cultus Lake with her family. However, her deepest passion was sliding down snow covered mountains on her snowboard. This passion grew and Katie went on to become a professional athlete, competing in freestyle snowboarding in her early teens and mid-twenties.
Along with the many demands of competition, came injuries, followed by surgeries, rehab and recovery. During this time, Katie found that the westernized style of medicine was not helping her improve and she sought out different modalities for healing. She practiced then studied yoga, becoming an instructor both in Bend and overseas in Australia. Yoga helped immensely to bring her mind, body, and spirit aligned in the same plane. She was then introduced to acupuncture to help with pain and the healing process; finding acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to be just the medicine she was looking for. Katie was so impressed by her personal results with acupuncture that she began working in an acupuncture office thereby observing people’s transformations and healing. It was by observing these undeniable positive changes which inspired Katie to study Chinese Medicine.
She has studied multiple modalities of Oriental medicine such as: Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as Japanese Style Acupuncture. She also has experience in body work: Tuina and Shiatsu massage, cupping and gua sha. Katie’s main interests are: sports injuries and orthopedic acupuncture, treating people for mental and emotional wellbeing, sleep, women’s health and digestive disorders. However, she believes the power of acupuncture is endless. Katie moved out to the Gorge to be with her husband, a local winemaker and outdoorsman, and to offer her knowledge and passion of healing to the local community of people around her.
